CTEK comes out on top in GTÜ test

We are delighted to announce that the CTEK MXS 5.0 has been identified as the top performing charger in a recent independent battery comparison test. Undertaken by GTÜ in Germany, the test compared 8 different chargers, involving 25 different test stages.

Charger functionality, quality, visual test and performance, as well as cost formed the basis for the 25 different test stages – each test stage involved chargers being awarded a pass or fail mark.

 

Charge quality

Each charger was evaluated to ascertain the quality of charging and charge retention. GTÜ awarded a pass mark to chargers that delivered a safe charge and included a voltage adjustment phase to achieve a 100% charge. GTÜ also needed to see a maintenance mode that constantly retained an optimal charge to award that all important pass mark – this was only achieved by CTEK MXS 5.0 and JMP 4000.

Battery maintenance

For long-term operation such as the winter charging of batteries in vintage cars, the devices identified as most suitable (and therefore awarded a pass mark) were those by CTEK and JMP, but also the Cartrend MP 3800 mastered this test. Chargers not awarded the pass mark failed for a number of reasons including inability to 100% maintain the battery in cold weather conditions and unsafe leads or connections.

Charger versatility

The CTEK MXS 5.0 was recognised for its versatility of charging and its ability to repair, revive, charge, condition and maintain all types of vehicle battery including wet/flooded, calcium, gel, and the latest Start-Stop AGM and EFB technology.

Battery revival

Of the top devices tested, it was only CTEK and one other charger that succeeded in restoring deeply discharged batteries with a residual voltage of 3V.

It is clear to see that the testing involved in the GTÜ independent test reflects the growing abilities of today’s chargers and so we are absolutely delighted that the CTEK MXS 5.0 has come out on top!

 

CTEK Retains Top Spot

CTEK is celebrating after taking home the Auto Express ‘Best Battery Charger’ award for the fourth year running. The award was presented to CTEK Category Manager Peter White at a glittering awards ceremony in Birmingham, UK.

CTEK MXS 5.0 Announced as the Auto Bild ‘Best Buy’ Battery Charger 2011

We are once again celebrating after the CTEK MXS 5.0 was awarded the prestigious title of ‘Best Buy’ by Auto Bild, the renowned and respected German automotive magazine which, including foreign editions such as Auto Express in the UK and Auto Plus in France, is published in over 36 countries.

To ensure that the tests were fair and unbiased, the tests were undertaken in collaboration with the society for Technical Supervision, the GTÜ.

The CTEK MXS 5.0 was pitted against its rivals in a series of demanding performance tests including charging a deeply discharged battery and various safety and drop tests. Also judged on its accessories, ease of use and practicality, the charger excelled in every category and scored an impressive 452 points from a potential 500. The award is testament to the unique multi-stage charging characteristics of the product that are incorporated across our entire range of smart chargers

This year we have seen an influx of new entries into this category and we are absolutely delighted to win this highly prestigious accolade.

CTEK is proud to be “Best in Test” in German motorcycle magazine

It’s time for CTEK’s R&A people to celebrate again. CTEK’s 4A charger, the MXS 4003 model proved to be the “best in test” conducted by Germany’s leading motorcycle magazine Motorrad.

The magazine tested a total of 8 chargers between 0,4A to 4A. CTEK’s smallest charger, the 0,8A model, came one point after the winning MXS 4003, another reason to be pleased.
