Our METS success

Last month CTEK attended METS in Amsterdam, the world’s largest trade exhibition of equipment, materials and systems for the international marine leisure industry; this was the 8th successive year that we have attended the show.

This event gave us the perfect opportunity to meet with our key marine contacts and showcase our range of smart battery chargers, on-board charging systems and other charging accessories to the 19,000 visitors who attended the three day event.

With an increase in the number of electronic devices being used on boats, coupled with more sophisticated electronic systems, we found that visitors to our stand had an increased focus on battery management. With many on board charging systems lacking the technology required to charge leisure batteries beyond around 80%, batteries are at a severe risk of sulphation and stratification, the two biggest battery killers.

We were demonstrating the CTEK DC / DC onboard charging system that will combat this problem by using patented CTEK technology deployed in our award winning mains chargers – to condition, 100% charge and maintain the batteries, thereby maximising performance and extending life.

Drawing its energy from the boat generator, this small yet powerful system continuously determines the needs of the battery, delivering a safe, powerful charge whilst making sure that it doesn’t damage the alternator or overcharge the battery. The optional solar and wind connector enables additional maintenance charging of both the consumer battery and starter battery when the boat is stationary.

Our DC / DC onboard charging system, along with our full range of marine chargers and accessories, was well received by visitors to the stand and we look forward to METS 2012.

Don’t let the chill spoil your fun this Winter

It has been said by some that Winter 2011 / 2012 may well be one of the most severe in modern times. And so with this very fact in mind, and after experiencing three cold winters in the Northern hemisphere, we have decided here at CTEK to address the growing demand for chargers that can handle extreme low temperatures.

We’ve mentioned on here before that that battery performance can reduce by 35% when temperatures hit freezing and fall by as much as 50% if temperatures go even colder and the same can be said when we talk about charging. Cold batteries resist being charged, your existing charger will require much longer to fully charge your batteries.

To combat against this problem and to ensure that your batteries are optimally chargedand conditioned even in sub-zero temperatures, CTEK has launched the MXS 5.0 Polar. This funky orange smart charger is based on the same state of the art platform as the CTEK MXS 5.0 but has been adapted to solve problems that occur when charging in extremely low temperatures.

‘Polar Mode’ delivers a charge at 15V, as opposed to the 14.7V Winter mode featured on the MXS 5.0 to ensure a 100% charge is achieved. The patented RECOND mode, that can restore deeply discharged batteries, has been adapted so that it can also be used on smaller batteries such as those used in snow scooters and All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). The MXS 5.0 Polar is approved for outdoor use and water resistant so it can safely be used in the rain or snow.

Don’t let the chill spoil your fun this Winter.
